Hair Transplant Perth at New Hair Clinic

Hair loss is a common condition that can affect both men and women. In men, it is often referred to as male pattern hair loss (MPHL), and in women as female pattern hair loss (FPHL), also known as androgenetic alopecia. Many individuals consider medical and non-medical options depending on the cause and progression of hair loss.

Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure that involves relocating hair follicles from a donor area of the scalp to areas affected by thinning or hair loss. When suitable, it may assist in improving hair density in treated areas. Outcomes vary between individuals and depend on factors such as hair characteristics, degree of hair loss, and ongoing progression.

Non-surgical options, including in-clinic treatments, medications, and home-based therapies, may also be used in the management of hair loss and may assist in slowing progression for some patients.

What Can an FUE Hair Transplant Treat?

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplantation may be considered for a range of hair loss conditions following medical assessment. These include:

  • Male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia)
  • Female pattern hair loss
  • Beard restoration
  • Eyebrow restoration
  • Hair loss associated with scarring (injury, surgery, or previous procedures)

Suitability varies between individuals and depends on donor hair availability, scalp condition, and overall health.

What to Expect During Treatment

FUE hair transplantation is performed start to finish by our Lead Doctor, Dr Shalina [MED0002251183]. A consultation is conducted first to assess suitability, review medical history, and develop a treatment plan.

On the day of the procedure, the scalp is prepared and local anaesthetic is administered. Hair follicles are then extracted from the donor area and transplanted into areas of hair loss. Procedure time varies depending on the number of grafts required.

Aftercare

Following the procedure, patients receive detailed aftercare instructions including a take home pack, to support healing and recovery. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, and scabbing may occur and typically resolve during the healing process. Follow-up care is provided as part of standard post-procedure management.

Risks

FUE hair transplantation is a surgical procedure and carries potential risks. These may include infection, bleeding, scarring, numbness, uneven hair growth, poor graft survival, or the need for further procedures. Risks(LINK TO RISK FORM) are discussed in detail during consultation.
